The Most Pervasive Problems in hairy nevus removal before and after
A hairy nevus is a benign skin condition that affects the hair on the face, eyelashes, and other parts of the body. To remove the nevus, the doctor will first remove the skin around the lesion, and will then use a knife, a scalpel, or a hot needle to remove the skin. The doctors will then make an incision to remove the hair around the lesion.
According to the Mayo Clinic, a nevus is “a benign skin condition where hair follicles within the dermis have been partially or completely destroyed.” So, if I had a nevus, I would be a bald, hairy, pimply-faced, scaly-skinned mess. It’s a freak of nature that no one wants to deal with because it can be so disfiguring. As a bonus, a nevus can also actually be cured.
The problem is that it can be so disfiguring that not only someone without a nevus can have a nevus. Because the skin around a nevus is a sort of membrane that keeps it from growing back too quickly, if you have a nevus and then your skin starts to get discolored, you can get a nevus. So a nevus is basically a sort of cancerous growth, except it’s not.
This is why some people get their hair cut short and others their hair cut off, so people can have a choice. And while hairy nevi’s can be removed with a laser or by laser removal, in a worst case scenario you can get them permanently removed. The most common method for removing a nevus is to get a plastic surgeon to do it and, if you’re lucky, they do it at a lower cost.
It’s not quite as bad as getting a nevus removed, especially if you have a doctor who specializes in plastic surgery. A lot of doctors are now getting into the laser removal field since it’s becoming more and more possible to get rid of nevuses with lasers. But it comes at a cost. The whole idea of getting a laser to remove a nevus is that it can be permanent.
